Rosa dei Venti is an 18th century farmhouse beautifully restored 4 years ago to provide our guests with traditional Tuscan charm and all the modern conveniences. Owned and operated by the Micheli family since 1900, great care has been taken to preserve the Tuscan architecture, furnishings, and atmosphere while providing guests with comforts including satellite TV, play area for children, private patios outside of each apartment, barbecue pits and a traditional wood burning Tuscan oven, and a swimming pool.

Rose of the Winds is owned and operated by the Stefano & Barbara Micheli, native Tuscans and the fourth generation of Micheli to operate the estate. Ornella, Stefano’s mama, will be instructing your cooking class. The family’s love of their ancestral home is evident in every detail, from the beauty of the traditional Tuscan furniture to the detail of the original architecture. You will be enveloped in the Micheli family’s warm, delightful and quintessentially Italian charm, as they make the most accommodating and gracious hosts for your Tuscan holiday.
ABOUT THE ESTATE:
Rose of the Winds is a working agricultural estate just outside the town of Cortona (where the famous book and movie Under the Tuscan Sun takes place) and in the province of Arezzo. Cortona is well known for it’s fine crafts produced by some of the world’s leading artisans, it’s wines and olive oils, and for it’s stunning architectural beauty. Rose of the Winds, situated in the midst of ancient olive groves, vineyards, stunning sunflower fields and gorgeous cypress groves is a producer of wines, olive oils, sunflower oil, wheat and melons. From every location on the property, there is a delightful panorama of the grain fields, olive groves, vineyards or medieval hamlets that dot the gently rolling hills.
WHERE YOU WILL SLEEP
Guest accommodations are in 3 separate apartments each with a common indoor sitting room and a private outdoor sitting area perfect for your morning cappuccino! Each bedroom has it’s own private bath and each apartment is equipped with a fully functional kitchen.
COOKING COURSE AND WINE TASTING
The guests can learn genuine Southern Tuscan dishes and the secrets passed down from grandmothers and grandfathers. All classes are hands-on and include local wine. The cooking course teaches the traditional Tuscan “Cucina Povera” (country cooking of the peasants). The course is taught in a large rustic kitchen and dinner is served in the classic Tuscan-styled dining room.
EXCURSIONS & ITINERARY:
We are very excited to be able to offer you this exciting and unique itinerary! Each day, you will be taken on a professionally guided tour with an English speaking guide of the villages and wineries of Tuscany. You will sample some of Tuscany’s finest wines and feast your body and spirit on some of Tuscany’s best cuisine. Places of interest that you will visit include; Montepulciano, where you will have a wine-tasting of the world class Vino Nobile di Montepulciano; Pienza, a Renaissance architectural model designed by Pope Pius II and producer of the renowned cheese, Pecorino della Pienza; San Gimignano, known as “the City of the Beautiful Towers” and producer of one of Italy’s finest white wines, “Vernaccia di San Gimignano”; Montalcino and Brunello, where you will have a wine tasting of the sublime Brunello wines; Assisi, the birth and death place of Saint Francis of Assisi, and home to several breathtaking cathedrals; and a shopping expedition in Cortona, where the finest artisan crafts, gold jewelry and Italian fashions can be purchased at discounted prices.
