DESTINATION S.O.S. “HELP” SHEETS

As you know, travel in general, and foreign travel in particular, can involve delays or missed flights, lost luggage and other challenges. Of course, Tuscan Way cannot control all of these inconvenient circumstances, however, the following provides you with step-by-step instructions explaining what to do to minimize any hassles. Please keep this sheet at at all times with your pre-departure travel documents. We recommend travelling with minimal luggage to mae traveling easier. Most people do tend to overpack which makes traveling more cumbersome especially if you need to take a bus, train or walk considerable distances between connection points.

The following is general information regarding what to do in different circumstances (*note: specific contact information and telephone numbers is included for each property destination in the pre-departure information packets which are sent 60 days prior to your vacation start date):

A. DELAYS:
Tuscan Way will wait for you up to ½ hour past your meeting time. Since we have other travelers to transfer we cannot wait more than this unless your party comprises the entire group. If you miss your pick-up, please do the following:

1) Call the contact people specified in your pre-departure information and let him know where you are. If the driver is unable to pick you up then advise what you intend to do from the options listed here:

a. Utilize a private taxi service to get directly from where you are to the destination property. This is the
easiest yet most expensive option to get from where you are to the destination property.

b. Take the Train to Grosseto, Florence or Cortona depending on your destination property. There are trains which leave directly from the airport in Rome (Fiumicino—Leonardo da vinci) every hour or so. The cost is 20-50 EURO depending on which train you get and your destination. As soon as you get your train ticket information please try to call your contact person and let he/she know what time you will arrive in the nearest town and determine whether or not you will need to take a cab from there directly to the destination property.

B. PHONES:
the airport and train stations in Italy there are little stores and/or cafes that have a sign which says “TABACHI”. Here you will want to ask for a phone card “Carta Telefonica”. Get the one valued at 10 EURO and ask them where the nearest public phone is “Telefono Pubblico”.

*Note: When calling Italy from the US or Canada, you must dial 011 (international code) + 39 (country code) and then the number)

C. LOST LUGGAGE:
The first step is to make sure you don’t miss your pick-up meeting. If you have more than 15 minutes until your meeting time then go directly to the service desk in the baggage claim area. You will need to fill out a lost baggage form. It is important to specify your name with the contact information provided in your pre-departure information.
