Southern Tuscan Spin
Itinerary:
Day 1-Reggello
Meet at our four–star hotel, a 15th c restored villa. Take a
warm-up ride through this village set in the foothills of the
Pratomagno to Figline, an ancient market town
Day 2-Loro Ciuffenna
Ride the panoramic Sette Ponti (Roman Road of Seven Bridges) and
zigzag through medieval villages including Cascia, where
Massaccio1s first masterpiece is housed in a Romanesque church.
Day 3 & 4-Siena
Pass castles and fortresses, remnants of the battles between the
Sienese and Florentines, on the way through the famous wine
towns of Radda in Chianti and Gaiole, where the original wine
recipe for Chanti was written. In Siena, wander the maze of
cobbled streets with our Sienese guide Nicoletta, to explore
glowing medieval paintings, unique neighborhoods and the
national wine library.

Day 5-Pienza
Pass centuries-old villages, frozen in time, perched atop lofty
green hills on our way to this quintessential Renaissance
village.
Day 6-Montepulciano
Either explore Pienza with its architectural masterpieces by
Rossellini or ride to well-known Montepulciano, Montalcino or
Cortona.
Day 7-Sorano
Cycle south through chestnut groves and poppy fields to Sorano,
a medieval village built on layers of Etruscan civilization. Our
magnificent, four-star Hotel Della Fortezza offers unrivalled
views of the peaceful countryside and furnishings from the
1800s.
Days 8 & 9 Orvieto
Our final ride takes us through vineyards to the penetrating
blue waters of Lake Bolsena, then on to the magical city of
Orvieto. Stroll through Orvieto1s piazza to see the ornate
cathedral and sample the city's famous wine before heading home.
