In the mountains of Chianti, at an equal distance from the provinces of Arezzo, Siena and Florence, on the border of a lush, green wood, can be found the village of Casignano. The estate is situated on an old road of Etruscan origin, later used by pilgrims as a communication route between the valleys of Chianti and Valdarno. The farm was built by the Innocents of Florence in 1783 and is today run by the owners. In 60 hectares of property they practice the natural cultivation of wine-grapes, olives and fruit. The produce can be bought on the farm. In the village of Casignano it is possible to visit the 12th century Roman church dedicated to San Lorenzo. The church is a small building of rectangular design recently renovated maintaining the characteristics of the small Romanesque building. The houses used for guests are self-contained and completely furnished in the style of a farmhouse with terracotta floors and wooden beams.


The house “Capanno” is across from the “Ospizio” and is laid out over 2 floors with a total floor-space of 120 square meters (10180 sqft). On the ground floor there is a kitchen and a large living room with a fireplace. On the first floor there is a double bedded room, a twin bedded room and 2 bathrooms with showers. It is possible to add 2 single sofa-beds in the living room. Each house has at its disposal a garden with table and chairs, a TV and a washing machine. In addition the guests are able to take advantage of the swimming pool of size 6x12m and enjoy table tennis, bowls and archery. The village of Casignano offers also the possibility to go walking on a route through the woods and vineyards. Mountain bikes and horse rides can also be requested.

The weekly price includes the use of the apartments with domestic appliances, water, gas, electricity, linen changed weekly and the use of the pool (open May 15th to September 30th)with deck chairs and sun umbrella. Extra bed: 72 Euro (about $65) per person per week. Baby cot with linen is available at 52 Euro (about $45)per week. Central heating is also available for an additional charge of 21 Euro per day (about $19). There is a final cleaning fee of about $25. The security deposit is 155 Euro(about $150).
