Asciano is a small village that emerges from the region known as the “Crete Senesi.” Along the ancient and panoramic Lauretana (the road that joins Siena to Asciano) one can literally stop every few kilometres to contemplate the natural beauty that this area offers. The road slopes gently down into the small valley of Asciano which has La Collegiata (Cathedral), the Church of San Francesco and the Tower of Mencia. At the entrance of the village stands Il Ponte del Garbo (The Garbo Bridge) which was completely destroyed in 1944 and has since been faithfully reconstructed. A few meters after the bridge, on the right, a small road leads to the old abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. Continuing on, the small Borgo (hamlet) of Camparboli comes into view and in the middle of this, on the left beside an old church, begins the road that leads us to the heart of the “Crete” and Podere Montecaci. The name given to this podere (estate) describes the land surrounding the building which is typical of le “Crete” - a rich land with pastures. Here, a type of grass grows in abundance that is great for sheep and hence the production of milk and cheese. Montecaci sits on the top of a small hill that represents the border between the two communities of Asciano and Rapolano Terme. Here, and all around this point, there is only the quiet and peacefulness of nature with clean fresh air and wildlife. Occassionally, the silence of this peaceful countryside is broken by the sounds of goats or the calls of nearby pheasants. The owners have furnished the house in a manner which remains faithful to that of a typical Tuscan farmhouse, adding only those elements of comfort to make your stay more enjoyable.

The apartments are located on the first floor and measure a total of 110 square meters (990 sqft). There is a living room with a fireplace and a mini-kitchen that has a stove top, fridge and a microwave oven. There are two double bedrooms, two single bedrooms, two bathrooms plus showers and another small kitchen with a fridge and 2 ring cooking hob. There is a nice outdoor space that is equipped with a table, chairs and an umbrella for eating outdoors.
