Welcome to Tuscan Way: tour the tuscany like you have never done before

For me, Tuscany remains my inviting home indelibly filled with warm impressions: from the laughter of my friends and the scents of my father’s and Grandmother’s “Cucina Povera” (Tuscan Tour cooking) cuisine to our medieval home in Arcidosso alongside Monte Amiata to my grandmother’s apartment looking over the Medici fortress walls in Grosseto, just a few kilometers from the seaside…

While my love of Italy is great, I am first and foremost Tuscan. And naturally, the focus of Tuscan Way is 100% Tuscan. On the following pages you will find our finest private villas and working estates available for rent. These are all places that I’ve inspected and would recommend as exemplifying true Tuscan charm, personality and rustic elegance.
Sincerely, Isabel Innocenti

Why Tuscany Tour?
For many reasons, Tuscany is cherished by all Italians. Tuscany is literally packed with history and timeless treasures: Florence, the renaissance, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Boticelli, Raphaello, Pisa, Siena, the gold of Arezzo, chianti & brunello red wines, Chianina ‘Florentine’ steaks, some of the world’s finest olive oil, the unspoiled Maremma beaches and coastline and the list goes on… . Best of all, there are many undiscovered parts of Tuscany because Tuscany is big and varied – there is so much to explore!

One of the most fascinating things is the diversity of the regional cultures within Tuscany. Tuscany is divided amoung 10 Provinces and each has it’s own flavor and heritage. Starting in the North moving clockwise we have the provinces of: marble producing Massa-Carrarra, friendly mountain and spa filled Lucca, the smallest TuscanSea side villa province which has fertile plains as well as a mountain ski resort – Pistoia, the historically most advanced region in Europe (throughout the middle ages and the Renaissance) of the Florence and Prato provinces, one of the wealthiest areas known for gold, art, antiques, prosperous farms (especially the famous chiana breed of cattle, “Chianina” steaks) which is the Arezzo province, the chianti vineyard rich land that is filled with artistic treasures, tucked-away villages and the famous medieval tower towns of Siena & San Gimignano that is Siena, the area comprising one of Italy’s largest provinces which is perhaps the least known in Tuscany and has some of the most beautiful coastline and wilderness in Tuscany is Grosseto, the seaside area famous four “cacciucco” (fish soup) that encompasses mountains, sandy beaches and the lovely island of Elba is Livorno, and lastly the leaning tower province rich in alabaster with history rich towns such as Volterra is Pisa.

The light in Tuscany is particularily splendid…a light that is golden which diffuses to the eye all the richness of the land: that orange-yellow blend which is immense and omnipresent across landscape 7 horizen. The Tuscan Sun is somehow unique and seems to stand above all casting the grand shadows of lonely majestic farmhouses, castles or Cyprus trees which stand like pointed pillowed and glistening swords to the heavens reworking sunlight to exude that rich dark green of their armour. I have experienced lovely sunlight and crisp clean humid-free air while living in places like Nice, France on the Cote d’Azur and in San Diego California. Bike rides along the coast and into the mountains revealed great beauty of dawn, dusk and midday sunlight in full force. High up in the Colorado Rockies and in the French alps also produced brilliant light. These are all lovely memories of sunlight but there is something about the Tuscan sun that remains more hypnotic and mysteriously beautiful. Perhaps it is the connection between the land and the Sun that is different – the economy of the region with so much wine and olive oil livelihood dependent on that special light…the appreciation of that light – all glowing in a warm aura of reverence.
